As a collective you are right " jambon1" but in my experience and put to the test, this is not always the case, ( it was I am pleased to say a wake up call for many I knew) and personally I don't blame a cult for " shunning" a sibling, I blame the parent. We can't blame a cult for shunning our child, and I am no advocate of the cult.

Every time I see one of them loving their kids, I think....
by jambon1 inevery time i see photos of new jw parents cuddling up to their new babies.. every time i see people giving the parents new baby cards & gifts.. every time i see them having fun with their children.. i think to myself; 'you would shun your kids' .
if they don't end up being jw's.
if they simply publicly declare that they don't believe.

Minimus (Q) who is in charge of the G.B now?
The Rebel ( A) Same answer as it's always been, it's just following the chain has become more complicated. What chain is that? Well it's to much work for me, but I would suggest for an honest answer you follow the "Money chain" and I promise you it's not people feasting on crap food at any bethel.

That was agonisingly funny Tantalon, you strike a chord with every angry person anywhere...and being intimidated by your anger I give you a " Like" :-)
As a thought for all us placid people, we should spend a day being angry, see what a difference it will make to our life's, our wife's will obey us, our children will clean their teeth and do homework, and our boss will make us unemployed...

Not too my son...
by The Rebel inwill i say " orlando, your hair is too long, and needs to be cut short" and never will i say " orlando, invites to birthday parties can't be accepted".
and i will buy my son books he wants to read, books that bring him happiness, and that he understands.
and by so doing, i hope he will acquire happy memories of his childhood, so that the sensitive and delicate, in him will be allowed to grow.

Yes as a parent I realize the relationship should never be separated by the changing values of the culture we live. Love must be unconditional. To clarify it is often the young who see and attempt to purge our society of its past prejudice, and they often articulate the need for change by "rebellion". However we parents should often listen to such rebellious voices, for by so doing women have become equal to men, and people are no longer not accepted if their sexuality doesn't conform with ours.

Let's be honest everyone has their limits, their breaking point. Personally I try to remain placid when provoked, but on occasion I can loose it. The last time I lost it was when Chelsea came to Watford and some Chelsea supporters had some how got tickets and were sitting in the home end. I forcibly resented it when a few cheered their first goal, and I told them to keep their mouth shout. Nothing further was heard from them until the end of the match. I am not sure if it was me that shut them up or some of our more intimidating supporters. But the last laugh was on us because Chelsea hammered us that day.
However, I always feel most occasions by loosing ones temper, it is a weakness. And when I think of people I new who often lost their temper ( teachers from school, bullies at school, my father outside of school, a few past bosses at work, myself when I was younger) I am glad I now rarely loose my temper because personally I find it rarely the best policy.
How are you with your temper? What's your breaking point? When was the last time you lost your temper?

Debating With Evolution Deniers is Just Like This
by cofty inarguing with those who reject scientific evidence can be like arguing about football; just as angry and passionate, but the goalposts keep moving, and one team doesn't exist.. read more here....

Debating with anybody will end like this, we say and listen to their final words, and then our refrigerated bodies are taken out, we are no longer alive, and our words can no longer be heard nor listened to, and we no longer have anything to say or hear anymore....which is why I love London. In London I can visit art galleries see the painting of Ophelia, and understand it's the flowers, the sun and life with my wife and son itself which are ART....if that makes sence ? Anyway with such an appreciation of life I am happy to die and to float away for ever...having died loving and loved by my son and wife .with these memories, not of religion nor evolution but love...I will happily float away to nowhere. That's my goal.
p.s I am in good health. -

I believe a persons behavior falls into a pattern that arises from ones nature. Now I am sure all the G.B have sexual urges, and most people to fulfill that need, will put themselfs in a situation where the urge is fulfilled. So I do not believe as you do that most members of the G.B are deluded, I believe they put themselfs in a position where they can fulfill there humun nature to be worshipped. To clarify Gooffrey Jackson has his sexual urges fulfilled marrying a much younger woman, and he has the power as well. He is not deluded, he is a member of the G.B.

God is Love
by The Rebel inon my my way to work today i had a tract with the words " god is love" thrust in my hand by a young man, of some church denomination.
now if i were to give the tract to a " witness" he would find the tract repulsive, repellent, blasphemous.
" in fact if i i were a witness i would be punished for reading such material.. why would this be?

Thanks Rebelfighter, it must have taken great courage to write that post. Thanks for giving so much of your inner self to this O.P. I am sorry your savings account was drained on medical bills in a " Christian country." I believe in a free medical service, and I think this should be subsidized by each citizens tax whether or not they ever personally gain from it.
Glad I started the O.P. And I believe if a person believes " God is love" or if a person doesn't believe "God is love" we should all believe " A free National Health Service" is LOVE.
p.s I think " compound and complex" recently started a thread about personalities on the board, and it's the personalities behind what we believe which make posting worthwhile.

Rebelfighter " ..the last thing I expect to see on this forum is " God is love" Everytime I have said that on this forum I have got blasted"
The Rebel A) I am glad you have your faith and that it is something important to you.
I enthusiastically await being amused by those who don't read my O.P and blast me, thinking this athiest belives God is love. However it was worth starting the O.P to have you a poster so clever and much admired by myself voice her faith. I like reading stories of people's spirituality, as I am not sure if I am not a little spiritual myself. I qualify that by saying I believe the mind has power we do not entertain.
p.s I couldn't give your second post a green thumbs up, because love is most definitely NOT " forgetting to think of the long term consequences, both financially and emotionally" in fact I would say it's the exact opposite :-)

Double post, so how do I fill an empty box? Love is boundless, selfless, and a deep concern for the other persons happiness. I don't believe we need religion to archive that.
or maybe I like the phrase " love is without make-up" and certainly in the " truth" love was presented with a lot of make up and very little inner beauty.
